Margot Robbie Wore the Most Un-Barbie Nail Color of All Time—See the Photos

OK, OK, I know that the Barbie movie came out two summers ago and that Margot Robbie was probably so excited to give the all-pink everything a break, but in our cultural consciousness, she’ll be forever linked with the doll and her colorful bubblegum lifestyle. But for a recent appearance during the Glastonbury Festival, Robbie continued to distance herself from Barbie with a manicure shade that is the complete opposite of the doll’s signature pink.

Robbie appeared at a Q&A session during the festival on behalf of her production company Luckychap wearing a very unexpected nail color for the summertime setting. The star’s short nails were filed into a soft squoval shape and painted with a shiny, dark polish that is either a true black or a very, very dark, near-black burgundy. Either way, it’s about as far from Barbie pink as you can possibly get, and reminds me of the dark shades that were popular year-round back in the mid-2000s. (Paging Lauren Conrad…) The short length and rounded shape makes the moody nail color feel more casual and very on-theme for a music festival like Glastonbury. Robbie kept the rest of her look equally low-key and cool, wearing her warm blonde hair straight and opting for minimal makeup, save for a bold flush of bronzer for a summery vibe.
