We have just experienced our first FIFA weekend! The last time I saw Vancouver host something on such a large scale was the 2010 Olympics and for a city that is so small, I do not know how we manage to fit so many people inside it! Last weekend, while I was driving into work, I saw this MASSIVE line that wrapped all around Waterfront station and onto West Cordova. Easily 1000 people and what was the line for? Compass “cards” in the shape of soccer ball keychains! Cute, but you will NEVER catch me wasting my Saturday morning (or any morning really) waiting in the rain for something like that! It was pouring rain too!

Not gonna lie. These Face Shop sheet masks are old AF, but I honestly barely noticed a difference between using them now and like 8 years ago (I had extras from before). I know a lot of people get scared about using expired skincare products, but I have never had anything bad happen with my skin or noticed anything “off”. I think there is something about sheet masks because they are sealed and the packaging is usually lined with foil which seems to preserve all masks in a way that I have never seen with any other type of skincare.
I honestly randomly found a package of these masks while going through some old Avon press samples as back in 2019, LG (owns TFS and a number of other Kbeauty brands) bought Avon North America so while I was on the Avon press list, I started receiving TFS products as well which was amazing! Character masks were all the rage 10 years ago and though I still love them now, they really were all over the place in the mid-2010s and this set from TFS was the one we were all talkin’ about! Honestly, all three sheet masks performed quite similarly so I will review all three as a bundle at the end!
First up, we have the Monkey that smells like apples. I guess it did smell slightly fruity, but I would not have guessed apple. This mask is intended to be soothing and moisturizing with ingredients like apple extract, hydrolyzed collagen and hyaluronic acid.

If you did not tell me this was supposed to be a monkey, I would never have known! I feel like I look more like I am wearing one of those Chinese opera masks!
The Pig Mask is also hydrating and also contains honey extract for extra radiance in addition to hydrolyzed collagen and hyaluronic acid. This one also did smell like honey!

I think it’s the eyes that make these masks look nothing like the animals they say they are going to be! And the mouths look like moustaches!
The Puppy Mask is a brightening mask and contains niacinamide, cotton seed extract, hydrolyzed collagen and hyaluronic acid. This mask also smelled like cotton!

Again, would you have been able to tell this was a dog? I guess maybe the spots on the side of my face and the snout would have been hints?

Final thoughts: All three masks left a very tacky residue which I had forgotten about, but after taking off the first mask, it all came rushing back to me! These masks all contain castor oil very early on in the ingredients list making them “hydrating”, but super thick, feeling and sticky. The mask material was also quite thick which was indicative of the early printed masks of that era, but thankfully now printed masks are much softer and in feeling and fit the face better! I think the printing process has gotten better so that you can still have a really definitive print without having the fabric feel really stiff. All in all, these masks served their entertainment purpose, but none of them were really that different from each other and I am glad they are used now!
Have a great weekend everyone!
