Of all the throwback hair accessories I’ve loved and lost, there’s one that holds a shall-we-say special place in my nostalgia-loving heart: the accordion headband. Now, my youthful experimentations with this stretchy style weren’t exactly camera ready, as it was constantly getting tangled in my thick, wavy hair. But wasn’t it so much fun to wear? It was basically like being Lizzie McGuire. The accordion headband, also known as a stretch comb or zig-zag headband, feels like a time machine back to the ’90s and early 2000s, but it had a moment in the spotlight at Paris Fashion Week thanks to The X-Files star Gillian Anderson and the fashionable folks at Miu Miu.
Anderson walked the runway at the fashion house’s fall/winter 2026-2027 show in the very familiar yet very surprising accessory. The comb headband was placed near her hairline and gently pushed back, with the rest of her blonde hair worn loose and brushed over her shoulder to show off her Miu Miu outfit.

It seems like Anderson enjoyed wearing the stretchy comb headband, as she was spotted in it after the show too, styled with her IRL clothes.
