Sean “Diddy” Combs, the music mogul and entrepreneur once hailed as a trailblazer in hip-hop and fashion, has been sentenced to 50 months in federal prison following his conviction on two counts of transporting individuals with the intent to engage in prostitution.

The sentencing took place on October 3, 2025, in a packed federal courtroom. U.S. District Judge Helen Robles handed down the sentence after hearing arguments from both federal prosecutors and Combs’ defense team. In addition to the prison term, Combs was ordered to serve five years of supervised release and pay a $500,000 fine.

The charges stemmed from an investigation into Combs’ alleged use of private jets and chartered transportation services to facilitate illicit encounters under the guise of business trips and entertainment events. The federal jury found that Combs knowingly violated the Mann Act, a federal law that criminalizes the transportation of individuals across state lines for immoral purposes, including prostitution.

Prosecutors had pushed for a sentence exceeding 11 years, citing what they called a “pattern of predatory behavior” and arguing that Combs had used his wealth and influence to exploit vulnerable individuals. The defense countered with a request for just 14 months, citing his lack of prior convictions, charitable contributions, and community involvement. In the end, the judge stated that the 50-month sentence reflects both the seriousness of the crime and the importance of accountability, regardless of status or fame.

Combs, dressed in a navy blue suit, remained composed throughout the hearing. In a brief statement, he expressed remorse for his actions, saying, “I deeply regret the choices I made and the harm they caused. I take full responsibility and hope to rebuild my life with integrity.”

The sentence marks a stunning fall from grace for one of hip-hop’s most iconic figures. Known for his chart-topping hits, fashion empire, and television ventures, Combs’ legal troubles have cast a long shadow over his legacy. He has been in custody since his arrest in September 2024 and will receive credit for time already served.

As Combs prepares to serve his sentence, the entertainment industry watches closely — a stark reminder that no one is above the law.
