Even though bobs are still going strong as far as hairstyle trends go, I’m personally in the awkward era of growing out mine. It’s currently at that sort of shapeless lob stage that isn’t quite shoulder-length—you know what I mean. But Tyla just showed us that the growing-out phase doesn’t have to be inconvenient; it can be creative.
The award-winning singer-songwriter changes up her hair all the time, so it’s no surprise that she arrived at Variety‘s Power Of Young Hollywood event in a new bell bob. The side-parted style was tucked behind her ears, swooping out at the chin-length ends, and covering one eye with thick, curved bangs. Absolutely attention-worthy if we left it at just that, right? But Tyla’s stylist truly took it to another level.
Although it’s not entirely clear how—maybe extensions with wires or an entirely separate hair accessory situated at the nape of her neck—stylist Malcolm Marquez has made it seem as if the ends of two small sections of Tyla’s hair have grown out into long twisted pieces that look like branches that have sprouted leaf-like black feathers.
