MAKEUP | Victoria Beckham by Augustinus Bader The Foundation Drops with TFC8 | Cosmetic Proof

While I have plenty of foundation to last a few lifetimes, I can never resist trying a bougie new formula especially when it comes from Posh Spice herself! Victoria Beckham Beauty has yet to let me down on any of the products I have purchased so when the “skin-first” Foundation Drops with TFC8 launched at Holt Renfrew last Fall, I had to pick it up during the Holt’s client shopping event!

Coming in 19 shades, this breathable, serum-like formula provides light, but buildable to medium coverage that feels just like your own skin and is powered by Augustinus Bader’s patented cell rejuvenating TCF8. I reviewed an Augustinus Bader routine in a previous review where I delve into detail about the scientist himself as well as what TCF8 is (to the best of my abilities) so click here if you would like to learn more!

This is a flexible, vegan and silicone-free formula that melts into skin and slowly settles onto the skin as the day progresses and promises a 12 hour luminous finish that evens skin tone and disguises the appearance of minimal skin imperfections like hyperpigmentation.

The packaging is plastic with a shaker inside and reminds me a lot of the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua! The VB formula isn’t quite as lightweight as it is more of a plump texture, but shaking this bottle totally brought back memories!

I picked up the shade 5 Light and as you can see in the before and after photos below, the difference is subtle, but enough to notice that the redness in my cheeks is gone as is the darkness around my nose.

The first time I applied this foundation, I used my fingers (ala Wayne Goss) and while it was easy to blend out without any streakiness, I prefer to apply it with a brush because it keeps my hands clean and I feel like the pigments “get more stretch” across my skin! It does have a bit of a tacky finish which truly does leave my skin with a glow at the end of the day that does not look oily, but definitely a little on the shinier side. I haven’t decided how I feel about that yet. If I powder it down, it does help with the tacky sensation, but I still get the glowy look at the end of the day as I don’t powder at all again after my morning makeup is done.

The weightless feeling is absolutely true and I know that as I get older, I don’t want to wear actual foundation would rather do a tinted moisturizer or skin tint-like formula which this foundation is perfect for, but I wish I loved it more than I do. Maybe I’ll be better with it when I am closer to 50 years old than 40 as right now, I still like the feel of a typical foundation.

Final verdict: I’m going to give this a solid try in the summer when I really don’t feel like using much on my face other than concealer to see if I will like it more. At $156, this foundation is crazy expensive, but I also can’t really think of another foundation product I own that is quite like this one. It’s not quite like the drop foundations of a few years ago and it’s not quite like the skin tints I have tried. The way it wears throughout the day is interesting though so I understand why people would like it. Maybe let’s call this verdict a “to be continued”…
